Color Palette: Blanche

'Color Palette: Blanche'

Year in review: In April, we released Walerian Borowczyk’s second live-action feature, Blanche (1971), on DVD and Blu-ray.

In the opening scene of this fairytale-turned-tragedy, a turquoise gem stands out strongly against an otherwise neutrally toned color palette. Borowczyk was devoted to period accuracy in Blanche‘s production design and music, and this remarkable piece of jewelry provides one of the film’s most memorable visuals.

Blanche (1971)
